Edinburgh School For The Deaf make walls of psyche out shoegaze with hymnal melodies, all Phil Spector and fuzz boxes. Out of distortion, wailing guitars and echoing beats Edinburgh School For The Deaf make a noise that is hard to ignore, think Jesus And The Mary Chain on a good day! Featuring ex-members of Saint Jude’s Infirmary.

Since their inception in 2002 Roads To Siam have evolved from a two-drummer slowcore outfit supporting the likes of Death Cab For Cutie and Sons And Daughters to an exploratory, largely instrumental quartet preferring tone and drone to huff and puff. While live appearances are restricted to about one a year, their most recent shows have been with kindred spirits such as Stage Blood (featuring members of Mogwai and Eska), Make Love (Foxface, Sons And Daughters) and new Chemikal Underground signing RM Hubbert.

They will take to the stage once more at Stereo, Glasgow on Friday 22nd April with a little help from Verse Metrics and New Town Triptych.

“Roads To Siam’s sound is rooted in textured, proggy psychedelia, and sounds more mature than you might expect from a band whose pedigree includes The Supernaturals and AC Acoustics.” The List
